ServSafe® Registration Procedures
Any troop, service unit or group using the industrial kitchens at all of our Resident Camps must have a ServSafe® certified person on the premises. This is a requirement of our American Camp Association accreditation. If food is being stored in these kitchens or served in the dining hall, the kitchen is considered to be in use, even if no cooking is involved.
ServSafe® Classes are offered regularly by the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association (PRA) throughout the GSEP jurisdiction. Click here to see the flyer. As a PRA Select Chapter member, GSEP is entitled to a discounted price of $85 on the training required for certification. To take advantage of the discount, type Girl Scouts of Eastern PA in the Company Name section of the registration form. If you have any questions about registering, contact Jill Sober at jsober@gsep.org. Please contact the PRA office at 800.345.5353 if you have any questions or concerns about the ServSafe® training itself.

The National Girl Scout
Pen Pal Network
Are you interested in expanding your troops friendship circle? Girl Scouts is all about making friends. And there’s no better way to expand your troop’s circle of friends than to join the Girl Scout Pen Pal Network. The National Girl Scout Pen Pal Network connects Brownie, Junior, and older girl troops with girls across the country to form lasting friendships. As participants in this program, troops (not individuals) are asked to correspond with pen pals for at least one year after the link is made. To participate, fill out our Pen Pal Request Form. Troops should not contact other councils directly.
Is your troop from another council?
Please contact the Pen Pal Coordinator at your council. In order to ensure girls' safety, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania will only match girls from other councils who have come through their council's Pen Pal Coordinators.
Pen Pal Guidelines
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania is a member of the National Girl Scout Pen Pal Network. We are able to make links with troops in other Girl Scout Councils in the United States, depending on availability.
- Daisies are not eligible for pen pals.
- All troops matched through the Girl Scout Pen Pal Network are expected to maintain correspondence for at least one year.
- Pen Pal troops are not currently available through the network in Hawaii or Alaska.
- Correspondence is for troops, not individuals. Leaders may not give personal contact information of participating girl scouts.
- Occasionally a pen pal match can be made for a single Juliette; however this process can take up to 2 months.
- It is okay to exchange pictures through the pen pal network.
How to get started
- The troop decides together if they want to be a pen pal with another troop in the US.
- Complete the Girl Scout Pen Pal Request Form.
- Wait while the Council finds a troop that is looking for a pen pal. This generally takes 2 weeks.
- You will receive a notification email from the Pen Pal Coordinator that includes how to contact the pen pal troop's leader.
- You can choose to write a letter or email from the whole troop OR each girl and leader can write her own.
Questions? Please contact Kandace Keefer at kkeefer@gsep.org, or 215.564.4657 extension 1024.
